Frequently asked questions

Learn how scale, model choice, output dimensions, and credits work before processing.

How is this different from other upscaling methods?

Traditional interpolation mainly adds pixels and can enlarge blur, noise, and jagged edges along with the image. UpscaleLume uses AI super-resolution models to rebuild texture, color, and edges while increasing dimensions. Choose General for natural, stable results or AIGC Enhanced for a stronger focus on texture detail. New details are inferred by the model and are not the same as recovering real information that was absent from the source.

What are the supported use cases?

Landscapes and architecture: enhance details such as grass, leaves, walls, and architectural outlines for clearer large-format viewing.

Products and food: improve the visible texture of clothing, footwear, ingredients, and other subjects for product pages and promotional materials.

Portraits and animals: enhance hair, skin texture, and fur.

How should I choose between the General and AIGC Enhanced models?

General works well for most everyday images and uses 1 credit per image. AIGC Enhanced focuses more on texture and detail and uses 4 credits per image, but small text or faces may show structural changes.

Why can the actual output be smaller than my selected factor?

UpscaleLume calculates the target dimensions from the original image. If that result exceeds the service limit, the adjusted planned size is shown before processing starts. AIGC Enhanced supports an output long side of up to 10,240 pixels.

How long are files kept, and are credits returned after a failure?

Paid processing files are stored temporarily in private storage and are cleaned up after 72 hours, so download results before then. Credits used by an image are returned automatically if processing fails or times out.

What is the largest image I can upload?

UpscaleLume supports JPG, JPEG, PNG, and WebP files up to 40MB each, with up to 20 images in the current queue. There is no separate free or paid upload-size limit. Image upscaling requires sign-in and uses credits according to the selected model.

How fast is processing?

Processing speed varies with image dimensions, file size, upscale factor, selected model, and the current service queue. UpscaleLume automatically processes queued images in batches, and once an image has uploaded successfully, processing generally takes less than 1 minute. Refer to the task status shown on the page for actual completion time.

Why can upscaling fail?

A task can fail if the image cannot be decoded or prepared, the upload is interrupted, the service queue is busy, or the AI service is temporarily unavailable. UpscaleLume handles recoverable retries; if a task ultimately fails or times out, the credits used by that image are returned automatically and you can upload it again later.

How do I view my upscaling history?

After you sign in, created image-upscaling tasks are recorded in your account. Open your account activity to review task status, processing settings, and results that are still within their download period.

What upscale factors are supported?

UpscaleLume supports any upscale factor from 1x to 8x, and you can enter a custom factor. You can also upload an already-upscaled image and upscale it again.

Can I upscale AI-generated images?

Yes. Images generated by tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Midjourney can be used as input.

Were the before-and-after images on this page processed by UpscaleLume?

Yes. The optimized images shown in the comparisons on this page were produced using UpscaleLume only. You can upload your own image and try it yourself.

Is my uploaded image safe?

Your uploaded image is stored temporarily on our servers only to complete this request. Input, staging, and result images are automatically deleted within 72 hours. See the Privacy Policy linked in the footer for more information.
